Sailing Area
Centrally located and easily accessible
Willemstad as home port allows you to explore a large and diverse sailing area. Both the ‘South Holland and Zeeland Estuary’ and the ‘Biesbosch estuary’ are sheltered waters which are great for either short and long trips. Access to the North Sea also lies open to you within a few hours sailing and through different ports.
The diverse nature of the different streams, the rich flora and fauna and many intimate harbours make this region a paradise for every water sports enthusiast.
The relatively short distances between ports give you the opportunity to alternate longer sailing days with shorter ones. This leaves plenty of time to visit one of the many historic and interesting ports contained in this beautiful and extensive sailing area.
Would you prefer a sporting day’s sailing on the tidal waters of the ‘Oosterschelde’ or rather drop your anchor off one of the islands in the mediterranean-like ‘Grevelingen’? Precisely this variety of possibilities is what makes sailing from Willemstad so appealing to all kinds of yachtsmen. Moreover, it is a nice bonus that the Zeeland area has the highest number of sunshine hours in the Netherlands.
